Bears Earn Three of Four Points Over the Weekend

A short-handed Bears squad managed to capture three of a possible four points during their weekend road trip to Michigan.
Game One Recap – Bears 7, Wolverines 2
Fond du Lac opened the weekend with a strong 7–2 win in Calumet, jumping ahead on Dillon Fox’s goal at 14:36 of the first before Calumet tied it on a power play. Malachi Buchholz answered with a power-play goal at 1:46 to send the Bears to the intermission up 2–1. Fond du Lac controlled the second period, putting up four straight—Spies at 17:41, Letmanski at 16:59, Malachi Buchholz again at 16:37, and Jonas Buchholz at 10:18—building a 6–1 lead before Calumet got one back late. Fox added his second of the night early in the third to finish the scoring. The Bears outshot Calumet 56–28, including a 23–6 advantage in the second. Justin Davidson stopped 26 of 28 for the win.
Game Two Recap – Bears 4, Pioneers 5 (OT)
Fond du Lac earned a point in a 5–4 overtime loss at Portage Lake while skating with a short bench. The Bears struck first on a Fox goal at 13:23 of the opening period, but Portage Lake scored twice late to take a 2–1 lead. The second period swung back toward Fond du Lac after the Pioneers made it 3–1 early; Letmanski scored at 12:27, Fox added his second at 10:59, and Malachi Buchholz tied it at 8:57 to send the game to the third even at 4–4. Portage Lake pushed heavily in the third, outshooting the Bears 18–11, and eventually won it on a goal at 3:33 of overtime. Fond du Lac was outshot 47–30, and Justin Davidson turned aside 42 shots to help secure the standings point.
