The Bears offense exploded for eight goals in the games opening period en route to a 12-3 win over De Pere. The Bears' Malachi Buchholz and Nick Monfils combined for nine goals Friday, with Buchholz scoring five tally's and Monfils netting four, including three in the first period for the natural hat trick. Saturday (W 6-5) vs. Fox Cities Ice Dogs
The Ice Dogs kept the game as close as could be, but the Bears were the ones to come out on top 6-5. With all 11 goals in the game scored at even strength, the Bears took the early lead just 1:01 into the game on a shot by Nick Monfils. Later in the period, the Ice Dogs got two goals in 14 seconds to take a 2-1 lead into the intermission. That lead would not last long though as Anthony Grebe tied things back up 1:09 into the second. After the Bears then took a 3-2 lead, it was former Bear Clint Zumer who knotted things back up in the second period at 3-3. Nick Sirota's goal for the Bears with 43 seconds remaining would send them to the intermission with a 4-3 lead. In the third, the Bears would score twice but each time, the Ice Dogs answered within a minute to keep the game close. With the victory, the Bears kept themselves alive in the chase for the 2023-24 Great Lakes Hockey League regular season championship. They sit three points behind Portage Lake with a game in hand.
