Weekend Preview: Bears Looking to Catch Pioneers in Race for GLHL Championship

Every GLHL game down the stretch holds significant importance for the Bears in their quest to win back-to-back GLHL regaular season championships.

The Bears are trailing the league-leading Portage Lake Pioneers by seven points in the race for first place. However, the Bears currently have three games in hand on the Pioneers. In order for the Bears to claim the championship, they will need to win their final four regular season GLHL games, and have the Pioneers lose their last contest. 

Standing in their way this weekend are the De Pere Deacons and Fox Cities Ice Dogs. Friday the Bears will be on the road in De Pere, and Saturday they will be home against the Ice Dogs.

The Bears are a combined 6-0 between the two opponents this season, winning their lone matchup with De Pere 10-5 back in December, and going 5-0 overall, 4-0 in the GLHL so far against Fox Cities.
