Weekend Recap: Bears Start Season with 12-7 Victory to Capture Keevin Cup

Saturday (W 12-7) vs. Fox Cities

Six different Bears found the back of the net to open up the season as the Bears put seven pucks past Ice Dogs goaltender Mitch Kroll, taking a 7-1 lead into the first intermission. Nick Monfils had two goals and two assists in the opening frame, with linemate Ryan Sabel contributing one goal and two assists during the first twenty minutes. Monfils would pick up the hattrick in the second period near the halfway mark as the Bears kept peppering shots past Kroll. The Bears outshot the Ice Dogs 48-38 in the eventual 12-7 win.

Coming Up

The Ice Dogs and Bears will battle once again on Friday, this time in Appleton as the two teams open up Great Lakes Hockey League play. The Bears will then return home on Saturday, November 4 for thier GLHL home opener against the Portage Lake Pioneers. Tickets are on sale now.
