Bears Season Ends in GLHL Championship

2022-04-04

The Bears season came to an end in the GLHL Championship Sunday afternoon, falling to Fox Cities 7-4.

All the pieces were in place for the Bears to bring home a GLHL Championship. It just wasn't in the cards as the Bears fell to the Fox Cities Ice Dogs 7-4.

In a gutsy back and forth contest, tied 2-2 entering the final period, the Ice Dogs scored three goals in just over three minutes, including one on the power play to pull ahead 5-2, a lead that proved to be too much for the Bears to overcome despite their best efforts.

The Bears would make it interesting, pulling back within one after third-period goals from Ryan Sabel and Jordan Foster just eight seconds apart.

Down by one late, the Bears pulled goaltender Justin Davidson who made big save after big save throughout the game. The Bears lost the offensive zone draw and the Ice Dogs quickly sealed the game away with an empty-net tally. They would add a second one 13-seconds later.

It's the second consecutive season the Bears fell in the GLHL tournament championship. The Bears lost in overtime to the De Pere Deacons in 2021 in an altered season format.

The Bears would once again like to thank all of their fans and sponsors for another great season.
