Bears Struggle During Weekend Road Trip

It hasn't been the start to the 2018-19 Great Lakes Hockey League season that the Bears wanted. The Bears surrendered 14 goals in two games to fall to 0-3 in the GLHL.
Fond du Lac, WI — It hasn't been the start to the 2018-19 Great Lakes Hockey League season that the Bears wanted. The Bears surrendered 14 goals in two games to fall to 0-3 in the GLHL.
Friday (L, 7-3) vs. Marquette
Marquette jumped out to an early 3-0 lead after the first period and never looked back as they went on to grab a 7-3 victory.
The Bears first got on the board three minutes into the second frame when Jordan Foster found the back of the net, with Robbie Coleman and Tyler Grebe picking up the assists.
Ryan Smet pulled the Bears to within one with 4:03 remaining in the second on an unassisted tally, but that's as close as the Bears would get this contest, as just 52 seconds later, the Mutineers would re-claim a two-goal lead.
James Goodfellow would net the Bears final goal of the contest, assisted by Grebe.
Parker Deanovich took the loss in goal for Fond du Lac. He stopped 41 of 48 shots faced.
The Mutineers were led in scoring by Dallas McLaughlin (two goals), Joey Enright (two assists), and Wolf Belanger (two assists). Aaron Labelle made 28 saves in net.
Saturday (L, 7-5) vs. Eagle River
Lucas Otto, Mike Otto, and Alex Hauswirth each recorded three points as the Falcons won a close contest with the Bears 7-5.
The Bear would jump out to an early 1-0 lead 3:32 into the first period when Terry Kalata found the back of the net. The lead would be short-lived as the Falcons would tie it up less than two minutes later, and take the lead late in the first period.
The Falcons scored two in each of the first and second periods, while the Bears only scored one each. Each team would light the lamp three times in the third, including an empty-netter for the Falcons to seal away the game.
The key factor in the game was the Falcons ability to capitalize on the power play, as they went 3-5 with the man advantage. The Bears went 1-2 on the power play.

Coming Up
The Bears will play their first home game in more than a month on Friday, December 7, and have a little shot at redemption when the Mutineers come to town. On Saturday, the Bears then continue their rivalry with the West Bend Bombers, this time in West Bend. The Bears are 1-1 against the Bombers this year, both games having been non-league games. Puck drop both nights is at 8 PM.
