Weekend Recap: McKinch, Foster Lead Bears past Bombers

2018-11-05

Jordan Foster tallied a pair of goals and Ian McKinch picked up three points as the Bears beat the West Bend Bombers 5-3 Friday night.

Fond du Lac, WI - They didn't get a trophy, but victory is always nice.

A week after losing the Keevin Cup championship to West Bend, the Bears offense found the back of the net five times en route to a 5-3 victory over the Bombers.

Trailing 1-0 just 15 seconds into the contest, the Bears counter-punched just 2:23 later when Mitch Grebe found the back of the net to tie the game at 1-1.

After the Bombers added a Power Play marker, Ian McKinch would set up Jordan Foster not once, but twice during the first frame to help the Bears take a 3-2 lead into the locker room during the first intermission.

The teams traded goals in the second period, with the Bombers getting their second Power Play goal of the game, and McKinch getting his third point on a goal in the closing minutes of the second period.

Tyler Grebe sealed the game for the Bears 6:14 into the third with help from Niles Owen and Benton Deanovich to give the Bears a 5-3 lead which would last through the final buzzer.

Parker Deanovich, making his second start of the season, stopped 18 of 21 shots he faced for his second victory of the season.

The Bears (2-1 overall, 0-0 GLHL) next travel to Mosinee on Saturday, November 10 for a matchup with the Papermakers. The team doesn't play at home until Friday, December 7 when they host the Marquette Mutineers.
